Visiting P-town, yes, P-town

Spending quality time with my favorite people.

After a while, my old best roommates/sisters, Kimmi and Molly, and I had lunch together at our favorite place at BYU Creamery On Ninth East. Just like in old times, I loved it. We talked about all what was going on in our life, graduation dates, and our goals... also about boys?... and smezze ;p

My first kind of official Fall picture with my friend Veronica from Brazil before heading to the temple.
I'm trying to go to the temple once per week, but it is kind of hard when you live kind of far from it, don't have a car, and the weather sucks.
I loved being there, it was kind of funny when my friend saw how busy it was and asked the lady who works there, "When is the time that nobody comes?" lol she was so serious about her question, the lady and I just laugh. When Vero told what happened to her

friend, she was serious and told the question and said that the lady didn't answer it and just laugh LOL. Then she sat for a moment and the lady who was next to her left right after she sat, she started smelling herself and asked me if she smells lol. Oh man, she is so funny. We had to walk and there was mud and ramps, it was such an adventure. I met her friend who is from Peru, it was so cool to talk to her in Spanish and know about what we were talking like traditions, streets, etc.

De Todo Un Poco...

It was International Week. I liked what they did in the Institute building decorating the halls with international flags, saying hi to everyone in a foreign language, singing hymns, praying, and sharing a scripture in a foreign language, etc. It was so fun!

Well, guess what? yes, I am a volunteer Math tutor. I remember always competing with my sister solving Math problems. I love learning and being good at it so I can help others to understand more the material and also it helps me to not forget what I learned. It is a win-to-win. My friends were like what? you are gonna do that and not get paid? I told them I was ok with that because I was on top of my classes and my schedule was flexible so I said, why not? it was a good day to make my day productive :) Also, it has benefits by tutoring, it helps me build my resume :)

My Friend Jason S. was in Utah for a conference and he visited me. He helped me finding my first apartment in Provo when I was in Miami. Anyways, we had fun, we went grocery shopping, and because I was sick, he had to cook lol. I was telling him what to do and he did well! He had never made Aji de Gallina and he was trying to do the same thing like me that I learned from my mom, being very careful when cooking and keeping everything clean. We watched a movie, listened to bachata music, and wow we felt like if we were in Peru since I am from Peru and he served in Peru.

What a surprise? I got for the weekend...

I made Lomito Saltado by myself for first time and I loved it, they all loved it. It turned out pretty well :)
I invited my second parents for dinner, Angelica (old roommate), and my new roommates so my second parents could meet them. At the end, they all showed up except for Rachel, Aubrey, and Janet...

I finally went out with sister missionaries after a while. One of them was from Canada and the other one was from Brazil
who just got on the field 2 weeks ago when I met her. They were serving in the Spanish area of Orem. We met interesting people, but none of them really invited us to come in their house or share the message. That day, my testimony about prayer had grown even more. We prayed in the car, and I asked for a family to open their door to us, and let us share the message that we brought for them, and more. After we prayed, we knock the last door and nobody was there, I was feeling so sad for no having anyone to know and share the message with, suddenly, the whole family showed up and at the beginning they didn't want to listen and just be polite and greet us, then they invited us to come in to their house and introduce us to their kids. It was such a beautiful house and wonderful family, so happy. Then we started sharing about the plan of salvation because the lady was sad because her dad passed away. The Spirit was so strong that they were willing to listen and ask us any question and invited us to come back again. They were very opened to us. I really want them to make the commitment and get seal in the temple. I care about them, even though I just met them that day, but we all are kids of God and we want our family (everybody) to receive this blessings.

A Day to Remember for Ariunaa

November 19th, 2011. A day to remember!

for Ariunaa Gno (Mongolia)

So the Ward Missionary Leader from my UVU-YSA 32nd ward called me to ask if I could speak the next day for the baptism service of my friend. It was around 8pm after I got off from class, I told him that I personally do not like giving talks that I get nervous pretty easy and because of that, I tend to forget what I am talking about. He told me that Ariunnaa wants me to. Its hard for me to say no to things like that so I accepted. I didn't have so much time to prepare, I was overwhelmed with school and stuff going on, plus, I had class next day from 10:30 til 1:15pm, and the service was for 2pm. I talked about baptism, I had all my notes that I took the night before preparing my talk, but because I was nervous, I decided to share few notes from my journal, shared my own experience as a convert, I let the Spirit to guide me and give me the right words to transmit the message, and shared my testimony.
Everyone seemed to like it. And Ariunaa was so happy that day that she couldn't even explain it. I was so happy for her, the Spirit was so strong and all. And seeing her takinng the first step, reminded me when my sister Gretta and I took that step too. I am so blessed to be part of this big and wonderful family. I am so greatful to receive all blessings that Heavenly Father promised me because of my obedience and keeping the commandments. Im so greatful for so many things and the opportunity to help my friend to let her know about this wonderful plan of happiness and about all blessings that comes with it not just for her, but for her family and everyone who around her.

Conference Weekend

I really enjoyed conference weekend. As ever before, I was so looking forward for it. And you know what? It is always worthy!!!!

This was my second time going to the Conference Center to watch General Conference. Thanks to my cool Bishop, Chris Justice, from my old ward-Provo YSA 41st Ward- I was blessed with this opportunity to go there for Sat. morning session. I haven't be felt the Spirit so strong as ever. I couldn't stop crying of joy for it. Every single talk was so good and intense. Love sister Dalton's talk about families! Some of the talks were...

Elder Richard Scott: He talked about the tools to be successful in life. Stressing more on the Scriptures as a key to unlock revelation, a translation of truth. Memorizing a scripture gives inspiration, comfort, and motivation. It gives you strength to Change!

Sister Barbara Thompson: Personal revelation and the Holy Ghost. Some revelation comes also by voice. By keeping a strong testimony will help us to go through trials.

Elder Whitney Clayton: He talked about the origins of the church in South America which made me remember about my talk last year for pioneer's day, "Pioneers in my Country."He shared his experience serving a mission in Peru and meeting with Alan Garcia, President of Peru back then. "The sun never cease on the work of the Lord."

Elder Jose L. Alonso: When we are in the service of our fellowmen, we are in the service of God. "Do right things, on a right time." We have to look for the lost ones, if we are late, we can lost them forever.

Elder Boyd K. Parker: By the words of Christ, the scriptures, it will tell you all things you should do, if you trust in the Lord with all your heart. Listen to the voice of the Spirit and you won't fail.

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf: We are everything to God!

Elder Neil Andersen: "You grow the most when you are struggling with your spouse."

Elder Ian Andern: Managing time. "We must use our time wisely to achieve our goals." "Video games can't replace good real friends."

President Thomas S. Monson: "Fear thou not, because I am with thee."

Elder Dallin Oaks: Everyone who eats from the living bread that comes from Heaven, have Eternal life."

Elder Matthew O. Richarson: Become real. Be the type of missionary, lds member, sister, daughter that the Lord expects you to be. We should become what we must become. Life changes by real people.

Elder Kazuhiko Yamashita: If the Lord calls you, respond that call.

Elder Randall Bevel: You cannot make eternal choices without going through trials. We all face adversities, but we are never late to make good choices. Become self discipline. Choose between being busy in life or seeking the word of God and serving others.

Elder Dayn Cornish: We must live our prayers. Sweet voice of response of our prayers come as a feeling more than a sound. Miracles are arrived through prayer. He really answers me!

Elder Quentin L. Cornish: Some challenges come from the agency of others.

Finally, President Thomas S. Monson concluded by saying: "We are all in this together." We have meaning, hope, and purpose in life.

FRESHMAN YEAR 2011!

Well, hello there!

My freshman year officially started! I'm taking 12 credits: Math, English, and American Heritage, plus my two institute classes: Book of Mormon, and Dating and Courtship. I am taking a second block class that doesn't start until October 18th, it is American Heritage. I am excited about that even if I hadn't ever taken it before, but it's gonna be a fun challenge! I'm almost half way done.

So far, so good. I thought it would be hard since it is my first semester taking college classes in English. My grades are the highest ones in the class. Wow, who would guess that, especially for Math because I haven't taken it since Dec. 2006. Hopefully, my grades will stay that way so I can transfer to BYU. I am currently applying for a volunteer tutoring position in the Math Lab so I can work next semester as a tutor. I am sure I will get it. I love Math. I love helping others who are struggling with Math to understand the material in an easy way so they can enjoy it. I will be tutoring for Math 0920, 0950, 0950, 0980, 0990, 1000, and 1010. Dang! I think I am such a nerd. Some friends and classmates called me "Cute Nerd." what a compliment. hahaha well, I do what I can.

My new roommates are: Rachel (PG, Ut), Nicole (Nv), Janet (Mexico), and Aubrey (Provo, Ut).
They are cool. I'm so lucky for having them as my roommates. We do crazy things together. Our apartment is the least quiet from the whole apt. complex I guess hahahaha.

Conference weekend was the best!!!! since I was way ahead with my homework, I was able to go to the Conference Center and watch the Saturday session there. Good talks!!!! I love them: Repentance, scriptures, Origins of the church in South America, new temples announcements, become real, rescue less active and inactive members, families, sister's Dalton's talk!!!!. I will write about them soon.
